I travel over an hour from the "burbs" to eat at La Fourno. The food is absolutely the best!!!The polenta with portabella mushrooms, the pasta and the fish dishes are insanely delicious! The owner is friendly, funny and truly wants to make sure that you have a wonderful time. Shame more places and owners aren't like La Fourno's! Go you won't be disappointed

Our experience at La Fourno was fabulous. This was our second time there and Al remembered us and gave us royal treatment. The service and ambiance was wonderful and the Veal Parm was fantastic. It is definately the best in Philly. We can't wait to go back again!!! Thanks Al for a great evening!

I loved the food, the service, the prices, and the portions.
My sons, who are huge eaters, loved the veal parm. My daughters in law, who are both foodies, loved the salad penina and the polenta portabello. My grandchildren loved the meatballs and the pizza.
As for me, I loved Al, the proprietor. Gracious and conscientious, Al will make you feel at home.

This is Philadelphia's best kept secret. This fabulous authentic Italian restaurant on South Street is the best cuisine for the price in town. The full range of appetizers and entrees are sure to delight even the most discriminating gourmet. My son-in-law, the foodie, raves about every meal. Last night it was the pasta with garlic and oil that accompanied his chicken parm (the family favorite). My other son-in-law craves the margarita pizza and says it is by far the best in Philly. I for one cannot eat enough of the polenta portabella and my husband the tilapia. Ok, everything is great and we just can't eat there enough- Just go and taste for yourself- I dare you to choose your favorite.

There is no better way to describe La Fourno than a true jewel. Our son introduced us to this restaurant a few years ago - when we want real Italian food and a staff that takes care of you and makes you feel at home, this is the place to go. The atmosphere created by Al and his manager, Francis, will make your dinner experience a celebration. The cuisine is true gourmet and the variety will leave you wanting to come again and again. You must try the Polenta Portabella, even if you think you aren't a polenta fan, this dish is beyond compare.
It is more than our favorite Italian restaurant; it is our favorite.

Went to La Fourno for first time a bit after 5pm and was looking for something light like a salad. But the Greek Pizza sounded as if it would be great with a glass of wine. It was superb.
The flavors of the sundried tomatoes, feta, eggplant and olives and I added anchovies, just tasted SO good. My Server, Trevor, was excellent and knowledgeable. He answered a lot of questions about things I might want to order next time, knowing it was not for this meal. Cannot wait to return.

Amazing as always. Had dinner shortly after returning from Venice and La Fourno wins hands down. Not only the food, but the ambiance and graciousness which is extended to all by the proprietor, Al and manager, Francis. The entire staff makes you feel like family! The fried artichokes are authentically Roman and the Polenta with Portobella sauce is distinctly better than I have had in New York restaurants. The menu always has something new and interesting. It is winner and it remains our favorite!
